This is accomplished through various mechanisms, including respiration, digestion, and excretion. For example, the lungs take in oxygen from the air we breathe and expel carbon dioxide as a waste product. In addition to regulating its internal environment, the human body also has a complex nervous system that allows it to interact with its surroundings. The central nervous system, consisting of the brain and spinal cord, processes information and sends signals to various parts of the body through the peripheral nervous system. This enables us to perceive our environment, move, and respond to stimuli. White blood cells, such as neutrophils and lymphocytes, play a crucial role in this process by engulfing and destroying invading microorganisms.
