Robust Teaching Clock
thingiverse
New Version: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3037481 I found the concept of these other teaching clocks intriguing, but the parts were too fragile and prone to breakage. I constantly broke them while attempting to assemble them. https://youtu.be/fpQ6ET8xsCk Every component is held together with #6 flat head sheet metal screws. The lengths are: 5x 1/2" long and 1x 1.25" long. When assembling, ensure that the gear in the base housing has one tooth pointing up (at 12) and two teeth pointing down (at 6). Then attach the arm and both hands pointing up (at 12). Aspects that still require improvement: There is considerable play in the gears. I might attempt to thicken the 8-tooth gears further and observe the results. The drive shaft wobbles excessively. The arm (and minute hand) lack balance, causing them to shift when you hold the clock upright.
