I'm excited to showcase my latest project: a modified Procatec 800 g refill reel that seamlessly integrates with the Robox single and dual material, delivering full SmartReel comfort. The reel boasts a diameter of 180 / 149 mm in width - surprisingly, it fits perfectly despite the slight size difference from the standard SmartReel's 175 mm diameter. To create this custom fit, I made some clever adjustments: widening the inner diameter and adjusting the width to precisely match the Procatec 800 g refill. However, you'll need a few additional components to bring this project to life: two DIN 912 Allan screws (M3x20) and two M3 nuts. Don't forget to get your hands on an inner part of SmartReel with EEPROM! To assemble everything, simply cut the empty SmartReel in half along the parting line using a saw. Then, break it apart, remove the inner part, and insert it into this custom reel. Finally, re-program the EEPROM with AutoMaker to adjust for your new material. Voila! Now you can enjoy low-cost refill filament while still experiencing the full benefits of SmartReel comfort! As a bonus, I've created two distinct color schemes: blue/grey for material 1 and orange/grey for material 2.
