I built an arm that works seamlessly with one DC motor and one stepper motor, flawlessly integrating robes to deliver maximum possible force generated by the DC-motor's torque to the second joint, effortlessly moving it up and down, and incorporating an electromagnet for collecting mines. This impressive arm earned us the first place and best presentation award nationally and internationally at Minsweepers 2019. Although I didn't design either of the two motors or the servo disk used, I took the lead on designing the rest of the system.
