Robot Walker

Robot Walker

I built this design as an homage to one I created during my time at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1993 for a challenging model making class. The original model was made from a combination of styrene sheets, acrylic, and cleverly modified components scavenged from found model kits (photo of the original model I crafted attached). Drawing from memory of the original design, this one I created retains an astonishing level of detail and accuracy in its measurements. To print it out, I used translucent PLA filament with rafts and support material to keep everything securely in place during printing. Be aware that removing the excess support material might take some time, but using needle nose pliers allows you to delicately remove unwanted fragments without damaging anything important. This design owes a noticeable debt of inspiration to both Robocop and Star Wars franchises - just check it out!
