Robot R2X
thingiverse
For the very first time, I embarked on printing a multi-part object of an impressive size. The purpose behind this creation was to delight my five-year-old son who has recently developed a fascination with robots. I utilized Pro Engineer software to design the robot, which stands tall at 12 inches and took approximately 42 hours to print. Drawing inspiration from the Nissan logo, I incorporated a lightning bolt into the head logo. The smiley face on the robot's face was inspired by my son's own artwork, as he loves to draw smiley faces. Additionally, the Makerbot logo doubles as my son's first initial. This project proved to be an excellent exercise in learning how to properly orient parts for successful printing. In the future, I plan to create smaller, simplified versions of this robot for display on office desktops.
