Robot Arm gear box
thingiverse
I'm building a robot arm and need a gearbox that translates motor movement by 90 degrees for the wrist pivot. I couldn't find an affordable option, so I decided to build my own. It uses a 1/4" shaft and R4-AZZ bearing, along with two 1/4" collars to prevent shaft movement. The collars were made on my lathe but can be bought at any RC hobby shop. The bevel gears have these specs: Bevel Gear 1.0 Mod 16T, 90° 1:1 (Ebay item: 152610910246). I drilled a 6mm bore to 1/4" and tapped a 6-32 set screw. Assembly screws are 6-32 and were tapped directly into the plastic. The flange spacing is 70mm, with an installation screw pattern of 24 x 24mm. Have fun and feel free to ask any questions!
