I have securely fastened it to the case with Velcro tape, but you are not required to do so - its own weight will keep it in place. The hook part serves a dual purpose: to attach the platform to the case and provide guidance for the filament as needed. Two pieces can be easily attached together using screws that emerge from the bottom. Printing a pair of these components allows you to accommodate two standard size spools, one on each side.
