Bracket is needed to hold a 30mm fan next to the extruder using some existing holes on the X axis carriage. The hot end can be removed from the printer without disturbing the fan at all. Instructions A fan bracket was laser cut from 3mm acrylic. M3.5 screws were required to attach the bracket as the existing holes were only 3mm in diameter. Suitable self-tappers would likely work instead of the original screws. Small holes were tapped with an M3 drill bit to attach the fan with some spacers. The metal hot end was fabricated from 0.4mm aluminum sheet by making 36mm washers spaced with regular 6mm washers on a 6mm spindle, as seen in pictures. This setup works very well with the following temperature readings: A heating block of 220c, bottom fins at 36c, and top fins at 21c. The fan was connected to the heater because it seemed like the easiest configuration. When power is turned off, the temp rises to a maximum of 47c which is acceptable. This problem arose from buying a metal hot end online through eBay that turned out to be of poor quality with only seven cooling fins instead of ten as listed.
