Robo 3D R1+Plus Molex Print Bed Mod
thingiverse
I wanted to find a way to disconnect my printer's bed heater without the usual hassle of disassembling it. After some consideration, I decided on a Molex Mini Fit Jr dual row connector and created this adapter to mount the plug on the back of the printer. It involves cutting out one piece of the vent grate to make room, which can be done easily with a needle file. Through several iterations of the adapter design, however, I still couldn't reliably get the plug to stay in place when plugging in the heater, so I added a couple little tabs and now it's secure. Was it more work than it was worth? Probably not. Still, if this is a feature you'd like to add to your printer, I've done the design work for you. Just be careful assembling everything so all the circuits match up correctly. Black wire goes with black wire or it won't help on that cable. I used a metallic silver Sharpie to help orient mine properly. My next step would be to get a second bed so I could swap them out and start another print while one finishes cooling. Whether or not this will play well with z-offset and auto-leveling remains to be seen.
