Robo 3D R1 Double 40 mm fan setup - hexagon hot end
thingiverse
UPDATE: Since PLA is prone to warping and sagging due to heat rising from the hot bed, it's best to print with ABS instead.\nSo, I discovered that other double mounts wouldn't fit my machine because it seems that my particular Robo 3D R1 model (purchased August 2015) had a hexagon hot end raised 1-2 mm.\nThe other designs were scraping against the build platform.\nI specifically tried these options: Thingiverse item #821080 and Thingiverse item #1026691.\nI kept the double mount and remodeled the shrouds to accommodate the extra clearance needed to clear the build platform while pointing air nozzles in the right direction. I added a smooth curved contour inside so air flows smoothly to the nozzle end, positioning it nicely 3 mm above the build platform now!\nTwo coarse threaded 1/8" Phillips screws were used to mount each fan shroud onto the double mount, and four coarse threaded 1/8" Allen screws secured each fan to its respective shroud. The screws are installed directly, eliminating the need to tap and thread holes.\nThe STEP file and Rhinoceros 3D file are also available so you can make adjustments or modifications as needed.\nPrint Settings\nRafts: No rafts are necessary\nSupports: No supports required\nResolution: Print with a .3 resolution\nInfill: Use a .25 infill ratio\nNotes: The print is best accomplished without any supports or raft.
