Robo 3D Cover Fastener Alternative
thingiverse
This is an alternative for fastening your Robo 3D cover that is far more convenient than using the screws provided by stock. Screws can be a real nuisance, especially when you need to grab a large Phillips screwdriver every single time just to remove them. I designed these hex bolt covers specifically to snap on a 6mmx16mm coarse hex cap bolt. The result is very easy hand tightening and removal. So far, I have found no reason to use any glue at all, but you might want to add a dab for long-term results. I've been using these covers for a couple of months now without any issues at all. That's why I wanted to share this in case someone else finds the stock screws to be a real pain to deal with. By the way, I bought my bolts at Menards, where you can also find them in single packs - 4 units per pack. It shouldn't be too difficult to find hardware stores nearby that carry them as well. In fact, Menards is right down the street from me! http://www.menards.com/main/p-1444440157823-c-8730.htm?tid=-6655425331097741352 Print Settings Rafts: No Raft Supports: No Supports Resolution: .2mm (200 microns) Infill: 15% Notes: I used Cura 15.04, set at 60 mm/sec to print my bolts. To no surprise at all, printing them all four in one sitting caused absolutely zero issues. Post-Printing It may be a good idea to gently tap the inner edge with a small file to clean it up if necessary. As for pressing the bolt head flush into place, I used pliers to do that, but only doing it gradually - a little at a time was key to avoid stripping the head or anything.
