Roberval Balance

The Roberval Balance is a weighing scale designed with two horizontal beams connected to two vertical beams. This configuration allows for accurate weight comparison regardless of where the weight is placed in the plates. Unlike simple beam scales, the Roberval balance is not sensitive to weight placement. To see it in action, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg7IBTMdyf0. The tool can compare the weight of any two small objects and detect differences as small as 1 gram. For more historical and scientific information about the Roberval balance, refer to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberval_balance. Printer Settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Original Prusa i3 MK2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 10% Notes: Print the base, top bar, bottom bar, riser, 2 plate holders, 2 plates, and 2 plate sleeves. The full model is designed for assembly purposes only. Print all parts at once. Post-Printing: Assembly: Using super glue, attach the plate holder to the bottom of the plate. Ensure the plate holder is oriented correctly, with the end farthest from the holes facing down. Make sure it is square with the plate. Slip the plate sleeve onto the plate holder and glue it to the bottom of the place. Attach the plate holders to the top and bottom bars using M3 screws. Regular or partially threaded screws can be used for this purpose. Glue the riser into the base. M3 10mm partially threaded screw Design: This design was created in Autodesk Fusion 360. Refer to http://a360.co/2fFNAwu for the original model and modification options. Standards: CCSS Overview and Background: Kindergarten: Compare weights by describing and comparing objects. Grade 1: Measure weight indirectly by ordering three objects by weight and using a third object as a reference point. Express the weight of an object in whole numbers of standard units. Grade 2: Measure weights in standard units, adding numbered standard weights to balance the scale. Measure differences between two objects' weights by adding standard weights to determine how much heavier one object is than another. Grade 3: Solve problems involving measurement and estimation using standard units like grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Use a balance to represent word problems and solve them through addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
