I've always been fascinated by the Robber Rex figure designed by Zheng3, and I've enjoyed printing them in various colors and sizes. The process has become my go-to test print for filaments, and after creating numerous versions, I thought it would be awesome to give him movable parts. Following some brainstorming, I came up with the new Robber Rex Robot design. To create this, I reworked the original body, developed fresh arms and legs, and added a hinged lower jaw that moves smoothly. Assembly requires just six 3mm bolts - four of them 10mm long and two 15mm long. My redesigned version is approximately 200% larger than the original, yet it prints remarkably fast, taking less than two hours to complete. I hope you have as much fun printing these models as I did designing them. Once again, thanks go out to Zheng3 for creating the Robber Rex in the first place. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Smartrap Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 15% Notes: If you print larger or smaller versions, be sure to adjust bolt size accordingly. I used Inland PLA for the prints. How I Designed This I created this design in Lightwave 3D using the original Robber Rex STL as a reference point.
