Rob Roy's Grave at Balquhidder
sketchfab
Rob Roy MacGregor's final resting place, alongside that of his wife Mary, and sons Coll and Robert, is located to the east of the crumbling remnants of a 17th-century church within the present-day churchyard at Balquhidder, Stirlingshire. Rob Roy, along with his clan, took up arms for the Jacobite cause in 1715, fought bravely, but was subsequently outlawed after being defeated at the Battle of Glen Shiel in 1717 and engaging in a prolonged feud against James Graham, the 1st Duke of Montrose, who had seized his lands. This bitter struggle continued until 1722. Rob Roy remained an outlaw until he received a pardon in 1727. His life came to an end on December 7, 1734, at his home in Inverlochlarig Beg, Balquhidder.
