RoadRunner 5 Gripper
thingiverse
This is a module for the RoadRunner 5 rover. The gripper payload module relies on a parallel lift mechanism to keep its load vertical while it rises. Two micro 180° servos drive the movements. No screws are used in the assembly of this module, but rather 1.75mm PLA rivets serve as hinge pins, enabling free rotation as the gripper ascends and descends. These rivets can be created using raw 3D printer filament by shaping the ends into a flared form with a hot (~120°C) flat surface like a hot glue gun. A tutorial on assembling the gripper is available here: https://www.icmars.dev/educational-outreach-technology/roadrunner-5/Collector Additionally, instructions for making hinge pins are provided in this resource: https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-3D-Filament-Rivets/.
