Road Bike Spacers and Derailleur Saver for Transport

I use a Thule Roundtrip Pro XT to travel with my bike. Of the many things it does and comes with, one thing missing is protection of the rear dropouts (135mm spacing 8/9/10/11sp). I designed this rear dropout spacer to protect your rear stays from being compressed during bike shipping/travel. It is meant to utilize your wheel skewer to stay in place, just like a wheel does.

Additionally, I added in a mounting point for the rear derailleur to hang between the dropouts. This helps to keep it from getting knocked in shipment and bending the hanger or damaging he derailleur itself. This will require the removal of your chain, but removal and installation are made easy by products such as a Connex Chain Link. Whichever product you decide on please make sure it is designed to be reusable for safety as most links are one time use only.

The derailleur hole is designed with the correct threads in it. However, depending on your 3D printer's abilities you may have to run a tap through the print to clean them up. As most derailleur mounting bolts are M10x1 that is the thread pitch designed in this and what should be used for your tap if you need one.

Filament Settings:

Resolution:

.15 to .2

Infill:

30

Filament: Have fun with it; match your bike. I'd recommend PETG as it's strong and offers some flexibility to asborb impacts without breaking.

Notes:

STL should load in correct orientation for print.
