Roach Trap...Reusable trap to catch and kill cockroaches

It's safe to say most people have a strong aversion to cockroaches. If you're part of this group and frequently encounter roach problems, then this solution might be just what you need. We consistently had cockroaches taking shelter in our letterbox. Far too often, this meant carrying them inside the house hidden among the mail - especially junk mail. Sprays and baits placed inside the letterbox rarely seemed to have any effect, even though it's possible they might wander away to die elsewhere. Baits aren't cheap, and the idea of spraying insecticide onto mail didn't exactly appeal either. So I developed a small reusable 'Roach Trap' that has proven effective at catching cockroaches. You can choose how you handle them after trapping - spray insecticide up the entry point, drop everything into water until they drown, or simply open the end sliding door, knock them out, and squash them. However you decide to deal with them, at least you'll have a corpse, knowing there's one less roach to bother you. This is a simple print requiring no support, using minimal filament. Print it with translucent material so you can see through the thin walls and check if there's a roach inside - often they start scuttling around when shaken. Use two shells with high infill (50%) to make sure the walls are almost solid and strong... after all this is a Roach prison. In operation, attracted by a tempting scent, there is a ramp that is easy for a cockroach to climb. At the end of the ramp is a drop into the trap - they fall in only to discover there's no way out. The ramp is a tunnel/tube with no walls/surfaces leading to the entrance that a roach can climb to escape. On the other side of the trap, there's a small sliding door used to insert bait and... remove trapped Roaches. To attract cockroaches to your trap use something like a small piece of banana and banana peel inside the trap through the sliding door. Searching online for things that attract cockroaches reveals sweet/fragrant items seem to work well - just don't put too much, as a roach could potentially climb over and escape. This is a really simple solution to an annoying problem most people face at times. The 'Roach Trap' is reusable, doesn't need expensive baits or sprays, so can save you money and the concern about poisons on surfaces around your home. Give it a try... print one... catch a few, and you'll print more! To my knowledge, there's no similar commercial solution remotely like this. At standard size, the 'Roach Trap' measures 32mm (W) x 57.5mm (L) x 22mm (H). This works well with roaches in our area up to about 25mm long. Got bigger roaches? Just scale it up uniformly and it should work just as well. Scaling down is not recommended. Please refer to the images and print instructions for additional information. Your Roach Trap must be used the correct way up to trap roaches! Note: If you like this, check out my other practical and fun designs.
