RK17 F0001 is a massive concretion from the Rooswijk after 7 days of painstaking deconcretion by the dedicated archaeology and conservation team. So far, numerous cannon balls, bar shot, wrought iron bars, and wood planks have been meticulously revealed. In 2016, Dutch and British archaeologists undertook an exhaustive survey on the site of the ill-fated Dutch East Indiaman Rooswijk, which showed it was at high risk of being irreparably damaged. To mitigate this threat, a team has come together from Historic England and the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) to undertake a comprehensive archaeological excavation in summer 2017. Follow this groundbreaking project on social media using #Rooswijk1740.
