RK17 A00170 is a complete clay pipe unearthed by archaeologists during the excavation of the Rooswijk in 2017. In 2016, a survey revealed that the site where the Dutch East Indiaman ship Rooswijk lies is at high risk. To prevent significant damage, the Maritime Programme of the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands launched the #Rooswijk1740 project. From 2017 to 2018, an expert team conducted further mapping and excavation of the site. The Dutch government owns the ships of the Dutch East India company (VOC), while the United Kingdom is responsible for managing shipwrecks in British waters. As a result, both countries collaborated successfully, with Historic England serving as the main UK partner. MSDS Marine is the contractor for the #Rooswijk1740 project.
