RK17 A00115 is a musket side plate stamped with the VOC emblem, signifying the Chamber of Amsterdam of the Dutch East India Company. It was unearthed during the archaeological excavation of the Rooswijk in 2017. In 2017 and 2018, an international team of maritime archaeologists excavated the shipwreck of the Rooswijk, a 300-year-old VOC vessel that sank on January 1740's treacherous Goodwin Sands off England's coast. Following each excavation campaign, post-excavation work began immediately, focusing on ex-situ research and the conservation and analysis of recovered artifacts, which will continue until project completion. The Rooswijk1740 project is funded and led by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture), in partnership with Historic England and MSDS Marine, a UK-based contractor.
