RK17 A00033 Pewter Tankard
sketchfab
RK17 A00033 is a pewter tankard unearthed by archaeologists during the excavation of the Rooswijk in 2017. In that same year and the next, the shipwreck of the Rooswijk, a three-hundred-year-old Dutch East India Company (VOC) vessel which sank on January 1740 off England's coast due to treacherous Goodwin Sands, underwent excavation by an international team of maritime archaeologists. Following each excavation campaign, post-excavation work began promptly, focusing on ex-situ research and the conservation and analysis of artefacts that will continue until project completion. The #Rooswijk1740 project is funded and directed by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture) in partnership with Historic England and UK-contractor MSDS Marine.
