RK17 A00033 is a pewter tankard discovered during the 2017 archaeological excavation of the Rooswijk. The shipwreck of the Rooswijk, a 300-year-old Dutch East India Company (VOC) vessel that sank on January 29, 1740, off the coast of England, was excavated in 2017 and 2018 by an international team of maritime archaeologists working together to uncover its secrets. Following each excavation campaign, post-excavation work began immediately, focusing on ex-situ research, artifact conservation, and analysis, which will continue until the project's completion. The #Rooswijk1740 project is funded and led by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture), working in collaboration with Historic England and UK-contractor MSDS Marine to preserve maritime heritage.
