RK17 A00104 is a rare Pillar Dollar discovered in 2017 during the excavation of the Dutch East Indiaman Rooswijk. The coin was struck in Mexico City back in 1737. In 2016, a team of archaeologists from the Netherlands and Britain assessed the site where the Rooswijk sank, determining it to be severely endangered. To prevent further damage, a joint project between Historic England and the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE) was launched in summer 2017 to carry out an extensive archaeological excavation.
