RJ45 Weather cover for Lorex security camera
thingiverse
I spent some time in Microsoft 3D Builder creating a weather cover for my Ethernet cable to protect it from damage. I decided to use silicon tape to wrap it as an extra layer of protection, and it turned out great for my needs. The cover securely holds the RJ45 plug in place and shields it effectively. However, please note that this is not waterproof. While searching for a solution, I found a 1/16 O-Ring that fits perfectly on the white connector, sealing it tightly when the cover is twisted on. The Cat5 wire also fits snugly into the necked-down end of the cover. Despite my initial intention to use tape alone, I'm pleased with how this project has turned out. To print this design, I used a Malyan M180 printer with specific settings. Here are the details: Printer: Malyan M180 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.16 Infill: 25% Notes: Simply print the design, and be sure to use supports inside the model for stability, although they're not strictly necessary on the outside as S3d automatically added them.
