This group is one of the few surviving masterpieces created by Camilliani, a protégé of Baccio Bandinelli. The two classically styled statues were likely commissioned by Don Pedro and Don Luigi of Toledo, Eleonora's father and brother who served as Grand Duchess of Tuscany, to adorn their Florentine villa's monumental fountain in the garden.
