A radome, a combination of radar and dome, is a weatherproof enclosure protecting microwave antennas, such as radar, with materials that minimally attenuate electromagnetic signals. Radomes shield antenna surfaces from weather and conceal equipment from public view, safeguarding personnel from rotating antennas and allowing radar or radio wave transparency. Constructed in various shapes (spherical, geodesic, planar) and materials (fibreglass, PTFE-coated fabric), radomes serve diverse purposes, including nose cones on fixed-wing aircraft with forward-looking radar, rotating 'rotodome' for 360-degree coverage in advanced AEW&C systems, or three antenna modules in triangular configurations inside a radome for 360-degree coverage in newer Chinese and Indian AEW&C configurations.
