Riser Shelf Legs & Clamps
thingiverse
I had a particular way that I wanted to set up my desk, but I couldn't find a riser that both clamped to the desk (I have a tendency to bump things) and was strong enough to hold my 5 monitors. So, I designed my own. The clamp part is available as either a whole item, or in two parts as the body and the descender. The latter should be helpful for those whose print space isn't large enough to take the whole thing -- or who need to print the two parts from different materials, as I did. I used nylon (for the strength) for the legs and clamp bodies, but since nylon filament is so expensive, I made the descenders from plain ol' PLA. It should be big enough for any desktop up to 1½" thick, and probably a wee bit more. The screws are likewise presented as both whole and two-part builds. In my case, I had a sticking issue with making them from PLA (that's also the reason the heads are so big), but other builds using TPU were sticking just fine, so I made a version with a TPU base and the rest with PLA (with thanks to my dual-extruder printer). If you also have a dual-extruder printer, you can try either that, or making a decorative decision by making the base part a different color. (I've put some basic instructions for this below.) The shelf itself is not included here because needs are so variable, and it's probably not practical to 3D print that part in any case. I had a friend make mine from a plank of wood; the Shelf Screw Guide is meant to help show where the screw holes should be. Even so, in case you want to design your shelf for 3D printing, I've included a set of screw holes set to the same measurements as the bases in this design. If you put a hole in your build just a little smaller than that part and then merge them together, it should work. My version of the shelf gave an elevation of 10cm (6") so I could easily fit my Echo Show underneath. For those who just want keyboard space, I've also built 3" versions of all the leg types.
