Riser, fountain head & diverter for small solar pump
thingiverse
A compact, single-piece device that serves as a riser, diverter, and fountain head for use on affordable solar pumps. Many of these small pumps are sold online through platforms like eBay, Amazon, or Aliexpress. It's straightforward except for the diverter function. In my garden, I set up small water features using shallow pottery and run them off of these tiny solar pumps. To create a safe haven for bees and butterflies, as well as birds, I divert some of the flow to an abalone shell "mini-pond," allowing the water to pool before flowing back into the main water feature. To use this device, simply insert a length of standard 1/4" drip irrigation tubing into the diverter. It should fit snugly, redirecting a portion of the flow to your secondary water feature. Note that these pumps are extremely weak, so keep the tubing close to the surface of the water, ideally no more than 1-2 inches above the main waterline before exiting. The diverted flow will be very low pressure, so allow it to exit straight out of the 1/4" tubing. Please note that one video and image show the device with a short length of 1/4" drip tubing attached to the diverter for flow assessment. Another separate video demonstrates the flow after being redirected to an abalone shell "mini-pond," where it falls back into the main water feature. This device is not designed as a universal fit, as there seems to be some variation between manufacturers. However, on my pump, it attaches directly to the top with no adapter required. The best advice I can offer is to print only the bottom portion and check for fit with your specific pump. https://youtu.be/v73cXgHtnZ8 https://youtu.be/zXqxLcUtD1o
