Ripple Vase Mode Phone Holder with dual layer trick
thingiverse
I'm thrilled with this design, leveraging the rapid print speed of vase mode and spiralized outer contour to create a lightweight yet robust and fast printed object that's substantial in size. Weighing in at around 13g, it's an impressive feat of engineering. There are two clever tricks employed in this design: (1) A 0.1mm gap is strategically placed at the bottom of the phone holder, allowing the slicer to recognize it as a separation while ensuring that the two parts still bond together. This thoughtful detail enables the creation of an 'inner' layer within the spiralized outer contour. (2) The gap between the inner and outer layers narrows down to 0.5mm at the bottom of the ripples, facilitating a seamless fusion of the outer layer with the inner one. The radial corrugation resulting from this design yields an impressively stiff structure without requiring excessive material usage!
