RIP Bonne-Maman
sketchfab
My grandmother passed away yesterday. I was lucky enough to take a 3D portrait of her three years ago when she visited New York to meet my newborn son William. Resharing it today is a tribute to her memory. She was an extraordinary woman with boundless energy. She traveled to over half the countries in the world alongside my grandfather. Her culinary skills were exceptional, and she always brought people together through food. We went on thrilling hikes across the Alps with her, and she would pack a portable cooking set so we could enjoy pancakes amidst breathtaking scenery. She remained an avid driver until just last week and was still skiing and playing ping-pong only a few years ago. As one of five children, she had a large family, including 31 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren – among them my two-week-old daughter Esther. Her slender figure belied her inner strength and poise. When I took her to New York three years ago, we visited the Sketchfab headquarters together, went up to the rooftop of the Standard hotel, and even strolled down Fifth Avenue. We also caught a performance of Stomp – an unforgettable experience. I'll deeply miss you, Grandma, but your memory will live on in our hearts. Rest now in peace.
