I was able to successfully install the Ring Video Doorbell on the vinyl casing of my door frame, opting for a more secure mounting point than the center of the door. Mounting it at a typical doorbell height proved to be an excellent decision, and with its fisheye lens, I can now see the entire driveway area directly up the edge of my house.
