Rigidbot Dry Filament Holder
thingiverse
I constructed this device rapidly as a means of safeguarding my filament from airborne moisture while it remains connected to the printer. Items needed: A holder capable of accommodating a spool of filament, acquired for me by Real Canadian Super Store at three dollars per item Screws - #6x1/2 length has proven suitable for my requirements but slightly shorter alternatives would provide greater security Inside 5/16", outside 3/4" in diameter rubber washers purchased at Home Depot for a price effective measure Seals designed to protect the filament from environmental intrusion - A single, round "Fun Foam" component sufficed in my scenario, obtained through Walmart's retail outlet During drilling, an obstruction of wood should be placed posteriorly so as not to compromise structural integrity As you proceed with your work, utilize that larger rubberized sealing ring available within said spool holder, effectively shielding against developing fractures Drilling large bore screw holes was accomplished within this project, thereby mitigating plastic material breakage - a calculated measure aimed at enhancing the longevity of components Conversely, all secondary drill operations employed precision by setting them 1/2 inch apart.
