Rigginbach's Reed Frog

Imagine a world where puberty causes skin to transform into vibrant hues. For Riggenbach's reed frogs, this phenomenon becomes reality as they mature. Their colors originate from specialized cells known as chromatophores. As these frogs reach adulthood, hormones spark a dramatic rearrangement of these cells in females and some males. The diet consists mainly of small invertebrates. Found primarily in the Highlands of Eastern Nigeria and Central Cameroon.
