The Daugava sports house has been open since 1963, starting as an indoor pool and adding an outdoor stage at the end of 1964. By that time, it had become a major site for sports competitions. Renowned TTT top teams dominated the USSR championships 18 times and took home 17 titles along with several European Championships wins. They also inspired fans watching from Daugava sports house, who delighted in witnessing exciting victories. World-class athletes such as Olympic champions like U. Semenova, I. Miglenieks, J. Krūmiņš, M. Valdmanis, Muiznieks, J. Kalnins, C. Ozers, I. Bugajenkovs, and the TTT golden girls trained at Daugava sports house, perfecting their craft under intense daily routines. This facility became one of the USSR's best swimming schools from 1968 to '69, graduating an impressive 50 elite athletes in this sport. With the efforts of director J. Misa, responsibility for managing the property transferred to Riga City Council by a council decision dated September 18, 2001. A renovation effort then followed under the leadership of the city council. After renovations finished on March 1st, 2003, swimming pools resumed their operations; fitness center renovations completed and launched services starting from June 1st, 2003.
