Rift S Deluxe Audio Strap Winged Adapter (no adhesive needed)
thingiverse
The Rift S Halo strap didn't work for my head shape so I wanted a secure way to attach my deluxe audio strap to the Rift S. The options out there all involved adhesive tape (which I do not trust) so hence the winged adapter was born. This option uses the secure top mount slot that exists for the halo headband and a wing design to drape the arms over the top of the headset and into the necessary position. Full credit for the DAS mounting slots to another creator (will add link soon), the arm caps and pivot point to another create (will add link soon), and the slot mounting bracket to another creator (will add link soon). I just took these pieces, stuck em together and attached wings via tinkercad - the other creators did the hard work! This isn't perfect and should be refined to be cleaner but unfortunately I haven't had the time. I printed 20% infil out of PLA. Once printed out, assembly is straightforward - remove the halo headband from the Rift S and slide in the winged adapter. It is a tight fit so be cautious.I tested with and without adhesive tape --> it isn't needed and is very tricky to put on but if you can put tape on it makes it slightly more secure. Once the wings are on, attach the DAS arms to the pivot points using the caps. I used a spare PC case screw (sorry not sure of size) and it worked perfectly. Once assembled, attaching the DAS is straightforward. Photos coming soon. Happy VRing!
