The Russian 3-line rifle, caliber 7.62mm (originally known as the Model 1891), was adopted by the Imperial Russian Army in 1891. This weapon, also called Mosin's rifle or Mosinka, underwent numerous modifications from its introduction in 1892 until the late 1950s when it was used by the People's Liberation Army and Korean People's Army. Its name derives from the barrel caliber equaling three lines (an outdated measure equal to 2.54mm or 0.1 inch). From its design, various sporting and hunting weapons were developed, including rifled and smooth-bore versions.
