Rifle / Hunting Implement Rest Cradle for Tripod - Hunting Now that I've used it for several hunting trips, I've added a quick release allows you to leave it on the rifle or stow it quickly in a bag. A ball mount or pendulum mount works nicely for most applications. https://www.amazon.com/Sunpak-620-PISTOLGRPQR-Tripod-Ball-Head/dp/B000JC5DAG/ref=sr_1_66?crid=27BDJK0TH5ATM&keywords=ball+mount+tripod+head&qid=1568994453&sprefix=ball+mount+tri%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-66 v2 - Upside down 1/4-20 flange nut allows for a shorter screw engagement on the tripod. Add foam tape used 1/4 x 1" pads and reduces noise. Nicely balanced rifles sit on it very nicely without straps. This is designed to hold rifles and/or other hunting implements (crossbows) to a tripod for a nice steady shot, great for long range shots when prone isn't an option. Heavy tripods work best. It uses a Std. 1/4-20 nut which fits almost all photography tripods. You can get them cheap at most thrift shops - I don't take my good tripods hunting; you can find them under $10 and I managed to get an older model Slik that works great with a ball head. The idea is it's a cradle for the gun and straps over the top secure it in place. Keep in mind this works great on mono-pods too, anything with a 1/4-20 screw will mount to it so it's kind of versatile.
