Rifle Ramrod Slotted Cleaning Tip

Rifle Ramrod Slotted Cleaning Tip

I purchased this rifle cleaning ramrod tip as a replacement since I had broken the original one. The threading is specified at 8-32 and it closely resembles the ramrod in Hoppe's standard cleaning kits for small caliber rifles (such as .22 LR, .223 Remington, .22 to .284 Winchester). I manufactured this component using my 3D printer with 100% infill and support structures from ABS plastic. Hopefully, ABS can withstand exposure to various solvents, including acetone, kerosene, oleic acid, amyl acetate, and ammonium hydroxide. I was unable to locate reliable data on PLA's chemical properties but intend to try using it in the future. After my initial experiment with the replacement ramrod tip, PLA showed no significant degradation during the print process and also resisted damage from exposure to solvents; however, I did observe some minor weakening of ABS after exposure to the same chemicals.
