Rick's Prusa Mendel Y Carriage 2017
thingiverse
Y-Carriage designed for my HICTop Prusa Mendel I3 printer. This carriage fits a 272mm x 220mm heat bed perfectly. I created this carriage because my old one kept rattling, but this one does not rattle at all! The key to success was a simple yet crucial adjustment: You know the three bolts with springs on them that connect your heatbed to your carriage? Each of those bolts must be secured to the carriage at two points or they will shake and lose their tightness. In my final design, I flipped the bolts upside down so that I could put the level-adjustment wingnuts on top of my heatbed. This way, each bolt is clamped to the carriage with two regular nuts and then the spring tension is adjusted with the wingnuts on top, ensuring the bolts never move or wobble. I used 3mm Esun PETG filament and a 0.6mm nozzle for this print with an XY compensation of -0.2mm.
