Rick's Portal Gun
thingiverse
So, I've been craving a portal gun from "Rick and Morty" for a while now, because let's be honest, who wouldn't? I started searching Amazon to buy one, but to my surprise, there were no decent replicas available. The one that Adult Swim endorses just doesn't look like the one on the show. So, I shifted my focus to designs on Thingiverse and found better results! In particular, this guy's design stood out: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1045661. However, after downloading and printing the design, I encountered two major issues. First, all the parts were combined into a single file, which limits my ability to print on anything smaller than a large printer - fortunately, I have access to one. Second, the replica is just too small, about 30% smaller than it should be. So, my reaction was simple: forget it, I'm making my own! Credit goes to the guy above for providing me with general dimensions and proportions that I used as a basis for my design, which I then enlarged by around 30%. I also added a nice strip on top of the cover. Another modification I made was making the design hollow so electronics can fit inside - hence the screw holes and insert holes in the main body, plus a perforation for a rotary encoder and an on/off switch. The design is optimized for minimal support structures, eliminating the need for raft or brim printing. I hope you like it! This is my first time uploading anything.
