Rick and Morty Portal Gun
thingiverse
My daughter was eager to get her hands on a portal gun for Dragon Con, but they weren't yet available for purchase. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and designed one that we could both use. To give it an extra cool factor, I incorporated LEDs and some basic electronics. The Counsel of Ricks Badge, however, was not part of my design. I'm addressing two questions in this post as well, and including a picture to help clarify things. In the bottom box portion of the gun, I used magnets to create a secure "closing" system. Thin metal squares were melted into the lid to seal it perfectly - it works amazingly well. The new picture also shows the wiring and battery compartment that I 3D printed. Kudos to the designer of the battery holder - great job! You'll need to add metal contacts, but overall, it functions beautifully. To prevent stray light from the LEDs, I used gaffer's tape and some metal tape. The LEDs are incredibly bright. For my green fusion container, I opted for a bubble magic wand instead of printing one myself. I cut a goo spike ball in half, wrapped it around some LEDs, and then placed them inside the green container. As always, while not required, a tip through PayPal is greatly appreciated for my work. Thanks, and enjoy!
