Ribbon Cutter
thingiverse
Design a hot wire cutter that can accurately cut and seal ribbon with ease. The device features a 60mm wide cutting length, accompanied by a graduated bed for precise measurement. To assemble the hot wire cutter, I embedded two M4 15mm brass inserts into the upright pillars of the device. Next, I soldered copper wire to one end of each insert and secured it in place using an 8mm M4 bolt. Powering the hot wire cutter requires three AA batteries, which can be stored in a custom holder or a repurposed part from a broken toy. Alternatively, you could design your own battery holder. The heat source is a 0.2mm stainless steel wire that connects the two bolts, generating the necessary temperature for cutting and sealing ribbon. For added convenience, I mounted the entire assembly onto a piece of MDF for rapid deployment. To see the hot wire cutter in action, check out this video: https://youtu.be/-UQxjYa3xy4
