Ribbon Bookend

I created this design for a friend who wanted something truly unique. My goal was to craft a bookend that stood out from anything I'd ever made before. The result is a functional piece, but it does need a textured coating on its lower surfaces to prevent slipping. To achieve this, I apply multiple layers of a rubber spray product, which effectively increases the friction and prevents the bookends from moving around. For optimal performance, the bookend works best when supporting heavy books, as their weight helps maximize the friction between the two.
