The Rhyton drinking horn features a goat head terminal. Its sturdy walls are built with a coarse texture and flare outward slightly at the rim. The terminal narrows and curves forward, ending in a simplified goat's head with a flat round muzzle designed for pouring liquids. Two small circular eyes are deeply incised into the surface, while shallow impressed lines on either side provide further definition to the head. Flat smooth horns extend from the back of the animal's head down to the vessel, and small applied arcs at the base of these horns indicate the presence of ears. Gift of the Arthur M.
