Rhombic dodecahemioctahedron play set

A few things motivated me to create this play set: I adore how these shapes interlock seamlessly. To get PLA printing spot on on my expanded machine, which boasts an increased build surface without augmenting the size of the heater PCB, was essential. A test piece for calibration and testing was also a must-have. In December, I received a sample assortment of colored PLA from Faberdashery, and I wanted to craft something that showcased the entire range of colors without requiring too much of any particular hue. Each individual component is challenging to print due to its 45-degree angles, tiny corners which tend to curl up if not cooled sufficiently, and initial surface contact with the build platform.
