Rhinoceros Lamp Orsay

This is a project to create a unique lamp from the replica of a rhinoceros head. I've utilized a 3D scan created by enthusiasts of the Rhinoceros Sculpture in front of the Orsay Museum in Paris (https://www.myminifactory.com/fr/object/rhinoceros-at-the-museum-d-orsay-paris-6314). The head has been isolated, and combined with a screw design (screw made possible thanks to this excellent tutorial for SketchUp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F0xBh9fi5o) in Meshmixer. The base is still being worked on but will eventually receive (or you can assist me in creating it), a LED lamp inside. I'm currently designing the electronic components and will upload them once they're completed... In summary, the process involves: using a 3D scan of the sculpture cutting the head via Meshmixer designing the screw in SketchUp merging parts with Meshmixer (make sure to check "make solid" at junction sites where screw/head meets is well done) designing other screw and lamp base components in SketchUp, leaving 0.5mm space between pieces (otherwise it won't be easy to move parts around each other) utilizing Meshmixer's support feature (I really like this - you'll have both designs available, with or without supports) printing in PLA (takes approximately 20 hours for the head and 11 hours for the base) adding a 12V LED lamp inside, which is very straightforward. thanks Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: prusa i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: ~35%
