Rhinoceros Jaw
myminifactory
A massive and powerful creature, commonly referred to as a 'rhino', belongs to one of five living species of odd-toed ungulates within the family Rhinocerotidae. Several extinct species are also part of this group. Two out of the five living species can be found in Africa while three reside in Southern Asia. The term "rhinoceros" is often applied more broadly to now extinct relatives of the superfamily Rhinocerotoidea. Members of the rhino family are among the largest remaining megafauna, capable of reaching or exceeding one tonne in weight. They have a herbivorous diet, small brains weighing between 400-600 grams for mammals their size, one or two horns, and a thick protective skin formed from layers of collagen positioned in a lattice structure. They generally consume leafy material, though their ability to ferment food in their hindgut enables them to survive on more fibrous plant matter when necessary. Unlike other perissodactyls, the two African species of rhino lack teeth at the front of their mouths, relying instead on their lips to pluck food.
