I was working on a model for a resin fridge magnet and my mind wandered to the terrain of Rhineland-Palatinate, its low mountain ranges forming an interesting landscape. To get this topography, I used jthatch.com's Terrain2STL tool, which simplified it nicely with meshlab, then drew the shape of RLP's borders and used boolean operations in Freecad to cut out the desired area. I took some creative liberties by exaggerating the hills - first, I multiplied them by three within Terrain2STL and later added a bit more height in the editor. To help viewers understand the model better, I included a picture with rough outlines of rivers and cities. This should give users an idea of where to place certain features on their own fridge magnets. Printing this model requires a good 3D printer that can handle 0.1 mm layers.
