The mummified remains of the Rhind Mummy were unearthed from a tomb in Thebes and transported to Scotland by archeologist Alexandar Rhind in 1857. The well-preserved mummy, still wrapped in its original linen bandages, is currently on display at the National Museum of Scotland. After lying undisturbed for 155 years, the secrets of this ancient individual were finally uncovered when it was CT scanned at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The scan revealed that the Rhind Mummy was a young Egyptian woman aged between 25 and 29 years old, standing approximately 1.58 meters tall (5 feet 2 inches) and dating back to around 10 BC.
